Epidemiologia

Le virus se transmitte fecooralmente. Plus de 95 % del population ha essite infectate per un serotypo de CVB, principalmente durante le juventute.

Physiopathologia

Iste acute infection conduce generalmente al destruction del β-cellulas sin effective immunitari reaction contra le virus. Illo reduce alsi le expression de HLA moleculas de classe I e pote propagar se, dissimulate in altere β-cellulas (chronic infection). Su persistentia in iste cellulas pote esser responsabile de un immunitari reaction, in personnas geneticamente predisponite, contra β-cellulas ipse. Iste autoimmun destruction de β-cellulas es la causa del diabete de typo 1.[1][2]

Un vaccino infantil contra le CVB es studiate pro contribuar al prevention del diabete 1.[1]

Es un virus de ARN de singulo filamento de senso positive non inveloppate del familia Picornaviridae. Su genoma contine circa 7'400 basepares.
