Estrogenos son un categoria de primari hormona sexual responsibile in mammiferos del disveloppamento e regulation del systema reproductive feminin e characteres sexual secondari.[1][2]

Le tres major estrogenos endogene con estrogenic hormonal activitate son le estrone (E1), estradiol (E2) e estriol (E3).[1][3] Le estradiol, un estrane, es le plus potente e prevalente.[1] Un altere estrogeno, appellate estetrol (E4), es producite solmente durante graviditate.

Iste steroides son producite principalmente per folliculos ovarian e placenta. Alcun estrogenos son producite in parve quantitate per altere texitos como le ficato, glandula adrenal, pectores e texito adipose. Iste fontes secondari de estrogeno son importante post le menopausa.
