"Fig. 1. Königskrone. Krone mit fünf Spangen oder Bügeln. Diese Krone wird von den österreichischen Erzherzogen, den königlichen Prinzen von Preussen, Bayern, Sachsen und Württemberg, den Prinzen von Baden, Hessen, Mecklenburg, Sachsen-Weimar und Sachsen-Altenburg auf ihren Schilden geführt. Die Staatswappen von Baden, Griechenland, Hessen, Mecklenburg, Niederlande, Oldenburg, Rumänien, Sachsen, Sachsen-Altenburg, Sachsen-Weimar, Serbien, Spanien und Württemberg zeigen dieselbe Krone."

Ursprünglich bestand die Königskrone nur in einem Stirnreif mit aufgesetzten Blatt und Perlzinken (Fig. 41). Mit wenigen Ausnahmen wird erst im Laufe des XV. Jahrhunderts hie und da die oben >>geschlossene<< oder Spangenkrone sichtbar."
