Le Mar Nigre ha un area de 436.400 km2 (non includente le Mar de Azov), [1] un profunditate maxime de 2212 metros, [2] e un volumine de 547.000 km3. [3] Le Mar Nigre es situate in un bassino elliptic habente un tendentia de est-west e jace inter Abkhazia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russia, Turchia, e Ukraina.
